Why Removing Lights from a Pre-Lit Christmas Tree?
Have you ever plugged in a pre-lit tree and found some of the lights didn’t work? Well, it is a common problem, especially if the tree has lived for quite a couple of years.
Is there anything you can do if this occurs? Could there be a way to save money by changing the lights on the tree rather than buying a new one?
Yes!
But this will depend on the type of pre-lit Christmas tree you’re using. Several artificial trees come pre-wired with lights embedded in the branches and cannot be taken apart. Though there are trees wherein you can take off and replace the light bulbs.
Step-by-Step Guide to Light Removal
Keep scrolling and you’ll find ways to remove lights from your pre-lit Christmas tree:
- First, make sure all the lights are working on the tree by plugging it into a power outlet.
- You can check each light with a bulb tester. This is done by moving each bulb onto the bulb tester after removing it from the display stands.
- When tested, a functioning bulb automatically lights up.
- If a bulb doesn’t work, you can use the spare bulb that comes with the tree or get one from a local store around.
- To fix a non-working light, try to rotate the bulbs.
- Check the fuse at the end of the cable if none of the lights are working. Remove the cover of the fuse using a small screwdriver. You can then take out the damaged fuse and fix a new one.
- You should also look out for the strands of the tree lights. Quite a few of them come with alphabetic numbers. So, locate the unlit section’s end plug and remove it.
- Connect the new lights to the tree and wrap them around it. And then connect the new strand’s end to the old.
